1998 Umpiring Crews Selected

2/19/98 -- The NEP Board of Directors has approved the umpiring crews for the 1998 season. The Board interviewed candidate organizations and arrived at its decision at its February 19th meeting. See the notes from past meetings under "Park Administration" for more details. Points of main emphasis included the importance of appropriate conflict resolution and cooperation with the Board of Directors in the handling of ensuing issues, transparency of umpire egos on the field, strict adherence to what really constitutes a judgment call, proper positioning of umpires, and criteria for ejections.
